The burning bush: Work

wish i had someone (to call on the phone)

One tone risograph print zine on blue paper, 21.5 x 14 cm, 16 pages, edition of 50, published by OMG PRESS.

Created from snapshots of abandoned chairs found on the streets of New York; I take the chairs as a simile of the people who might have once inhabited them and imagine the lives they lead (or led) and whose only vestiges are these objects now forgotten or discarded.

In the page layout, the chairs are accompanied by the lyrics of Bobby Vinton’s song Mr. Lonely that echoes the abandonment and feeling of being away from home, where the chairs can take on the personality of any character, even the soldier who goes to war and might never return.
